Most states require you to work under a licensed PI for a number of years before applying for your own license. Most, not all.
Go to the Texas state govt. web site, type in licensing, see what they have for requirements for this field.
Here in NY it’s 3 years under someone else. VA is 5, CA is 3, just depends.

No license is needed. Just do it. Best way is to get on with a law firm. Having done this, I know. P.I. is not what you might think. No guns, no spying, just mounds and mounds of research and process serving. Now to be a process server you must get bonded but the law firm would pay for that.
